This is a metal panel wallpiece that I had made for my final in my first semester foundations class. I cut these pieces of thin metal that were already slightly rustic looking into five different panel. I applied salt and water consistently to the metal to further more rust it. Then I cut out the circular shape with a plasma cutter and also the movement of flowing lines that are moving through the panels. After I had done all the plasma cutting, I took a mig welder and then an arc welder to make an up raised texture. I successfully was able to make a wonderful texture with an arc welder that gave my piece great character. After I was done with the texture and line work, I painted on an arcylic based copper paint and then sprayed a clear coat over the metal panels. When I went to install my piece, I wanted to add something more to make it feel right in the setting. I ended up buying a deep olive paint and painted a rectangular shape on the wall to bring out the colors in my metal piece. I was very happy with the turn out and display for my show.
